Ahmedabad: On Saturday (April 29), the Gujarat High Court is going to hear the petition of prominent Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the controversial statement given regarding the Modi surname. The Gujarat High Court will hear Rahul Gandhi's petition challenging the Surat Sessions Court's decision. 

In fact, the Sessions Court of Surat flatly refused to stay the sentence of Rahul Gandhi in the criminal defamation case related to 'Modi surname'. After which Rahul has moved the Gujarat High Court. Let us tell you that after a judge has recused himself in this case, Rahul's petition will now be heard by a new judge. In the case, Geeta Gopi, a judge of the High Court, recused herself from hearing the case. Now the matter will be heard by the bench of Justice Hemant Prachhak.

Let us tell you that in the hearing held on April 20, the Surat court refused to stay the sentence of Rahul Gandhi in the case of criminal defamation related to the remarks related to Modi surname. In fact, on March 23, 2023, the court of Surat sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years under section 500. However, he was immediately granted bail by the court.
