"The President spoke with Prime Minister Modi to congratulate him and the National Democratic Alliance on their historic victory in India’s general election," the White House stated. Senator Ben Cardin, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, commended the people of India for their active participation in the electoral process, even amid intense heatwaves.
