New Delhi: The former Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir has indicated interest in playing in the IPL in 2024. He currently resides in England and intends to naturalize as a British citizen in 2019. Amir has ended his career in professional cricket but is still open to taking part in the IPL.
The co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan, was never mentioned by him in a recent interview.
“I haven’t met Shah Rukh Khan. There are many Indian fans who want to see Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League. Some Indian players also say this but they can’t open about it openly,” he said.

Pakistani athletes first participated in the IPL in 2008, during the league's first season. After 2009, though, they were expelled from the league.
Azhar Mahmood is the only player of Pakistani descent who has been able to participate in the IPL since 2008 because of his gain of British citizenship. Mahmood had the opportunity to take part in the league while representing the Punjab Kings.

Amir's journey in cricket has been one filled with highs and lows. Due to mental adversity, he retired from Test cricket in 2019 and subsequently declared his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
He was subject to a ban throughout his career as a result of a match-fixing debate in 2010, but he made a comeback to international cricket in 2016. He was subsequently included just a few days before the 2019 World Cup started, despite having a slump in form and being left out of the first roster.
