Hyderabad: Former Team India captain Muhammad Azharuddin has become the new president of Hyderabad Cricket Association. Please tell that he had applied for this post only a few days ago. Azharuddin has been elected the president of HCA with a huge lead of 147–73 in the elections. Azhar, one of India's successful captains, filed his nomination last week. This is now a new innings in his administration after the cricketer. Azhar has played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs for India. In Tests, he has scored 6215 runs at an average of 45.03 while in ODIs he has scored 9378 runs at an average of 36.92.

Azhar's name also came up in the fixing, after which the BCCI banned him for life. However, the court acquitted him of these charges. He did not play the 100th Test match due to allegations of fixing. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association has also got a new president. Arun Dhumal was elected as the President. Apart from this, other executive officers have been elected unopposed.

Only one nomination was filed for all the posts. The post had fallen vacant since Anurag Thakur's resignation in 2017. Anurag's brother Arun Dhumal for the post of president, RP Singh for vice-president, Sumit Kumar Sharma for the post of secretary, Amitabh Sharma, secretary-secretary, Avnish Parmar for treasurer, Vishal Sharma and Chandrasekhar Mehta for two posts of member of council.
