Mumbai: Huge runs has been scored in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in the Wankhede stadium in a match between Mumbai and Kerala. Mumbai's team scored 197 for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs while batting first. The Kerala team achieved the target in just 16 overs and won the match. On behalf of the team, opener Mohammad Azharuddin scored a century in just 37 balls while batting and won the team by 8 wickets. Azharuddin is the first batsman to make a century on behalf of Kerala in T20 cricket.

Mohammad Azharuddin batted an unbeaten innings of 137 runs in 54 balls and administered a resounding victory to the team. This is also the second fastest century ever in Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. Azharuddin has jointly become the third Indian Battan in T20 cricket to score the fastest century. He failed to demolish the record of Rishabh Pant (century in 32 balls) with only 5 balls. After Rohit Sharma (century in 35 balls), it was the Third joint T20 century of Indian batsman. Yusuf Pathan has also scored a century in 37 balls.

He hits 9 fours and 11 long sixes during his innings and played a mere 4 dot balls during his innings, with a strike of 253.70 during the innings. Mohammad Azharuddin teamed up with Robin Uthappa for the first wicket with a partnership of 129 runs, Uthappa contributed only 33 runs in the partnership. The Kerala team achieved the target of 198 runs kept by Mumbai in just 15.5 overs.
