New Delhi: Indian cricket team's star bowler Mohammed Shami has heaped praise on captain Virat Kohli. Shami says Kohli's positive attitude has boosted confidence among the Indian fast bowlers. Shami says Kohli behaves like a childhood friend on the field which makes things easier.
In an interview for Cricbuzz, noted commentator Harsha Bhogle spoke to Shami on Kohli's captaincy. At the beginning of the interview, Bhogle said that there was a discussion between Virat Kohli before he became captain. Kohli had said during that time that he had four or five bowlers to win in Australia and England, if he went with him, he had a chance to win there. Virat Kohli likes fast bowlers. Harsha asked Shami whether Virat wanted to play with the fast bowlers or three or four good bowlers had come together.
Shami replied, "Whether you consider it team India's luck or hard work, four or five good fast bowlers." Kohli has always supported him though. We have also been given complete freedom on the field. Kohli comes in the middle if the bowlers' plan is not successful. Shami further said, 'Virat has never put pressure as far as I am concerned or the Indian fast bowling attack. Generally, the player feels that if he says something to the captain, he may have to listen. However, there is such a feeling with Virat as if he is a childhood friend.
