New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who was facing the fear of arrest, is relieved. Shami's arrest has been stayed by the court. An arrest warrant was issued against him for domestic violence. The arrest warrant was issued by a Kolkata court against Shami playing a Test series in the West Indies last week. Shami was to surrender immediately after finishing the West Indies tour and returning to India. Shami was in the US after the West Indies series ended, though he remained in constant contact with the BCCI and his lawyer.

Salim, the advocate for the fast bowler, said that the action taken against Shami was against the legal process and there was no way in which the Indian bowler could be asked to surrender. Shami has been accused of committing domestic violence by his wife Hasin Jahan. In the same case, Shami was ordered by the court to surrender himself within 15 days. He was also asked to file a bail application. The BCCI official told a News that the Indian fast bowler is in the US after the West Indies series ends and he will return to India on 12 September. The case will be looked after by them.
