After adding excise duty, dealer commission and other things to the rates of petrol and diesel, its rate almost becomes double. On the basis of these standards, oil companies do the work of fixing petrol price and diesel price everyday. Dealers are the people who run petrol pumps. They themselves sell petrol at retail prices after adding taxes and their own margins to the last of the consumers. This cost is also added to the petrol price and diesel price.
