New Delhi: The Modi government at the Centre held an all-party meeting ahead of the monsoon session. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had convened the meeting. Pm Narendra Modi was also present. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Congress leader in lok sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, TMC MP Derek O'Brien, DMK's Tiruchi Shiva attended the all party meeting a day before the monsoon session began.

The same kind of meetings are held before every Session of Parliament to ensure its smooth functioning. The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin tomorrow, monday, july 19. This will be the first session after the second wave of deadly corona infection spread in the country. The session is expected to end on August 13 with a business of 19 days. At the same time, after the All Party Meeting of the Centre, there will be a meeting of the NDA which has been convened at 3 p.m.

Prime Minister Modi will also attend the meeting. Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress had convened a meeting of the Parliament Strategy Group. The meeting lasted about an hour. In the meeting, the Opposition discussed the issues to be raised in Parliament. After the second wave of corona, it is going to be the first session of Parliament. This time the monsoon session is expected to be more stormy than before. This time the Opposition has several issues to raise in the session. Opposition parties are gearing up to corner the BJP government on a number of issues including rising petrol and diesel prices, covid mismanagement and vaccine shortage, foreign policy, Rafale deal.
