Ahmedabad: A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court over the bridge collapse over the Machu river in Morbi, Gujarat. In this petition, an SIT has been sought to be formed under the leadership of a retired judge of the Supreme Court and an investigation has been done. It has been said in the PIL that strict rules should be made to manage the crowd on all the old bridges or monuments across the country to prevent such an accident from happening again. So far, an FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC in this case and 9 people have been arrested.

Let us know that 141 people have lost their lives due to the collapse of the bridge built on the Machhu river. The Gujarat government has announced a state-wide mourning on November 2 to pay homage to the victims of the Morbi bridge accident. The PIL has been filed by apex court lawyer Vishal Tiwari. It has demanded that an SIT headed by a retired judge of the apex court be formed and investigated so that the reality of the accident comes out. Apart from this, it has been demanded that strict rules should be made to manage the crowd on all the old bridges and monuments across the country so that such an accident does not happen again.

PM Narendra Modi was on his Gujarat tour at the time of the accident. Many of his programs were canceled there. A meeting was held under the leadership of PM Modi to review the situation after the tragedy. In which it was decided that a state-wide mourning should be announced on November 2 to pay tribute to the victims of the Morbi bridge accident. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel tweeted that the Gujarat government has decided to observe a statewide mourning on November 2. The (national) flag will remain half-masted in the state and there will be no official ceremony. He told that this decision has been taken in the high-level meeting held under the leadership of PM Modi.
