NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Vivek Agnihotri's film "The Kashmir Files" on Tuesday, saying that more films like it are needed so that people can learn the truth.
Before the commencement of the day's proceedings in Parliament, Prime Minister Modi spoke at a BJP parliamentary party meeting.Prime Minister Modi is reported to have claimed that for a long time, attempts have been made to conceal the truth from the nation, and that films like "The Kashmir Files" are needed to bring the truth to the public's attention.
"The country should be presented with the truth in its proper shape. In Kashmir Files, the truth won out " a BJP MP said, quoting the Prime Minister. Another MP claimed that while the Prime Minister praised the video, he ordered the party's lawmakers to view it.
It is also learnt that the Prime Minister also said that "flag bearers" of freedom of expression attempted to suppress the truth.
"Freedom of expression activists have launched a campaign to undermine the film. The entire ecology is working against the individual who attempted to tell the truth. Instead of judging the film, they are attempting to prevent people from seeing it "Prime Minister Modi was quoted by a BJP MP.
