More RLVDs to keep eye on traffic offenders from Jan 1

INDORE: Beware! Year 2017 may brought more woe for traffic offenders as red light violation detectors (RLVD) system will start functioning at 13 more intersections in different part of Indore from January 1.

Currently, RLVD system already working successfully at 15 locations in the city and has generated over two lakh e-challans. With 13 more RLVD points, the total number of intersection where ultra-modern traffic violation system is being functioning will rise to 28. With this, traffic department in the city anticipating smooth and discipline traffic arrangement across the city as now all the important intersections have the ultra-modern system to keep tab on traffic offenders.

The RLVD cameras will start operating in Kothari Market, Saifi Hotel Crossing, Industry House, Mahesh Guard Line, Agriculture College, Agrasen Crossing, GPO, Chhavni, Madhumilan Crossing, Narsingh Bazaar, Mhow Naka, Patnipura and Nandlalpura Crossing.

The cameras are linked to the traffic management cell. The RLVD cameras start functioning when traffic signal changes to red. If a vehicles crosses the stop line after the signal is red, the cameras capture the picture of the vehicle with its registration tags and sends it to the traffic cell. Officials at the cell check the data manually, and the computer will generate the challan which is then mailed to the errant vehicle owner along with photographic evidence to avoid any disputes.
