Buxar: In Bihar's Buxar, 3 FIRs have been registered against the farmers who agitated for land compensation and violence on January 11. All these three FIRs have been registered in the Mufassil police station. The complainant in two FIRs is Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam, which is building a thermal plant, and the third FIR has been lodged by the circle officer of Chausa. Police have registered a case against 38 named and more than 250 unknown criminals.

The land has been acquired for the thermal power plant of Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) in the Chausa village of Buxar. The farmers are demanding proper compensation for this. In the late night of January 10, the police barged into the farmer's house and lathi-charged the protestors. It is alleged that the police entered the house and barbarously lathi-charged men and women as well as children. The farmers were enraged after the incident of police barging into their houses on the night of January 10. They burned the vehicles. The Chausa power plant was also vandalized. The farmers opened the front and kept on creating a ruckus throughout the night. Farmers demonstrated a lot and set buses on fire. Police vehicles were also burnt. Farmers have been agitating for the last 2 months demanding compensation.

In fact, the land acquisition of farmers for the power plant by SJVN in Chausa was done before 2010-11. At that time the farmers were paid compensation as per 2010-11. Thereafter, the company again started the process of acquiring the farmers' land in 2022. Thereafter, the farmers are now demanding compensation for the land to be acquired as per the prevailing rates. The company is forcibly acquiring the land by paying compensation at the old rates. Farmers have been agitating against this for the last 2 months.
