Doha: The FIFA Football World Cup 2022 has ended in the Islamic country Qatar. What remains is the story of the death and torture of migrant workers engaged in the construction for this Football World Cup. It would not be wrong to say that the stadium in Qatar where matches of the FIFA Football World Cup were played was built on the graves of Indian and South Asian laborers. Amnesty International has revealed in one of its reports that 15 thousand 21 migrant laborers have died in Qatar in the last 10 years. Most of these 6500 laborers were from India. Along with Indian laborers in Qatar, Nepalese and Pakistani laborers have also been killed.
It is grim irony that today's #WorldCup final is being played today, Dec. 18, which in 2000 the UN General Assembly proclaimed International Migrants Day. At least 6,500 migrant workers died in #Qatar to make #Qatar2022 possible. https://t.co/E9zSxRRFso https://t.co/T1gyHvyxtM

According to the report, not only did Indian workers die in Qatar, but they were also severely exploited and were not paid on time. The International Labour Organization (ILO) has also acknowledged this fact. On November 1, the ILO in a report claimed that migrant workers were not paid salaries on time. It was said in the report that the condition of migrant workers in Qatar is extremely miserable. The report claimed that the biggest problem of migrant laborers in Qatar is that they have to work without pay.

On December 15, more than 3 dozen Nepali civil society organizations wrote a letter to FIFA chief Gianni Infantino. In which he said that FIFA is stealing eyes from compensating Nepali migrant workers who died during the construction of the Qatar Football World Cup Stadium. These organizations have demanded that the families of all the workers who died should get compensation.
