New Delhi: The new motor vehicle act has come into effect from midnight of 31 August. After the amendment in the Motor Vehicle Act, now for violating traffic rules, fines of up to 10 times will have to be paid. This rule has come into force since 1 September. The Delhi Traffic Police carried out intensive search operations in many areas of Delhi at midnight. Many people were seen breaking traffic rules, on which the police imposed a fine.
Except for Rajasthan and Bengal, the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act has come into effect throughout India. In most cases, the amount of the fine has been increased. Fines of Rs 1000 will now be paid for not applying seat belts. Earlier it was 100 rupees. Earlier the penalty for the red light jump was Rs 1000, now for this, 5000 rupees will have to be paid. The penalty for driving a vehicle after drinking alcohol has been increased from 1000 to 10 thousand. Now, without violating the rules of driving without a license, driving drunk, Overspeed, etc., you will have to pay more fine than before.
According to the new rule, for the first time, there is a provision of 6 months in jail and a fine of up to Rs 10,000 for drink and drive. Whereas if these mistakes happen the second time, there will be a jail term of up to 2 years and a fine of up to Rs 15,000. Additionally, instead of Rs 500, driving a vehicle without a license will now attract a fine of Rs 5,000. On the other hand, if a minor drives a vehicle, he will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000, which was earlier 500 rupees.
