New Delhi: The Motor Vehicle Act in the country has come into effect from today. The governments of Rajasthan and West Bengal have decided not to implement this Act equipped with many stringent provisions, including a 10-fold increase in fines. Rajasthan Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachriawas has said that even though the purpose of this act is to prevent accidents, corruption will increase due to heavy fines.

Khachriawas said that the government has full authority to review it. The Transport Minister said that only after reviewing the amount of the fine, we will decide on its implementation. On the other hand, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has made the fine for not applying it. However, the conflict between West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and the Center since the time of Lok Sabha elections is being considered as the main reason.
