Countrywide lockdown is now exempted. Now the central government has started preparing to make big changes in motor vehicle rules again. In September last year, new rules were implemented, after which the amount of challan was increased significantly. Now the government has sought suggestions from all stakeholders and general public for framing new rules.

The rules for which the government has asked for suggestions are rules related to new vehicles, driving license and recall of old vehicles. Notifications for this were issued on 18 March, but due to the coronavirus lockdown, suggestions have been sought again. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway issued two notifications for this on 29 May 2020.

The Ministry has suggested these suggestions for getting new DL, electronic certificate for surrender or renewal, online application for Learner License, National Register, Dealer Point Registration, renewal of vehicle registration 60 days in advance, for 6 months. Temporary registration which includes giving extra time of one month, electronically trade certificate, online approval for making any kind of change in the car. In the other notifications, suggestions have been sought regarding the recall policy of damaged vehicles and notification. It has also been said that the suggestions are to be given to the Joint Secretary (Transport) of the Ministry within 60 days on the email id jspb-morth@gov.in.
