Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid a visit to the Shri Kshetra Valmiki Dham Ashram in Ujjain on Tuesday. The ashram, which is under the guidance of Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Balyogi Umeshnath Maharaj, is a sacred site within the district. During his visit, CM Yadav offered flowers at the Siddh Samadhi and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the state.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister shared his experience, stating, "Today, I had the honor of visiting the ashram of Rajya Sabha MP Balyogi Umeshnath Maharaj ji at Shrikshetra Valmiki Dham in Ujjain. I worshipped at Siddh Samadhi and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of Madhya Pradesh."

In addition to his prayers at Siddh Samadhi, CM Yadav also observed a unique tradition at the ashram, worshipping the sacred Chhadis (sticks) of Gogaji Maharaj. According to Rajya Sabha MP Umeshnath Maharaj, the tradition dates back centuries and holds a special place in local history. Legend has it that Gogaji Maharaj traveled to Avantika Puri to meet Baba Mahakal. During the Mughal invasion, Gogaji Maharaj is believed to have fought fiercely to protect the Mahakal temple from destruction.

Today, the area where Gogaji Maharaj's army once camped is known as Yogeshwar Tekri and Goga Tekri in Ujjain's Kheer Sagar. The tradition of Gogaji Maharaj’s visit continues to be honored with people from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other regions arriving at the site with Chhadi sticks and flags, known as Nishans, in celebration of the spiritual connection between Gogaji Maharaj and Baba Mahakal.
