BHOPAL: As many as 200 people, including children and women were rescued and shifted to safer places in Madhya Pradesh's flood-hit Harda district. Heavy rain since Tuesday caused flooding in the district and over70 houses got submerged. Due to the Mancha River's flood, the highway between Bhopal and Betul is closed. 

The chief minister's office announced on Wednesday that several teams had been deployed to rescue those trapped in floodwaters and transport them to safe locations.

Harda district would experience heavy rain, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued a warning. The district administration has decided to close the schools for the day after observing the situation.

According to the IMD report, the Betul district had 140 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, Pachmarhi 111 mm, Khandwa 68 mm, Seoni 58 mm, etc. In districts like Raisen, Bhopal, Neemuch, Narsingpur, Balaghat, and Mandla, the department has issued yellow alerts.

Similar to that, Wednesday afternoon rainfall of moderate to heavy amounts has been forecast for districts like Sehore, Indore, Dhar, Shajapur, Ratlam, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Mandsaur, and Ujjain. Districts like Harda, Betul, Chhindwara, Seoni, Narmadapuram, Dewas, Khargone, Badwani, and others have received red alerts from the IMD.

According to statistics, 111 people have died in the past one and a half months as a result of lightning strikes in Madhya Pradesh, with at least 47 deaths occurring in just one week. technical team in the Regional Meteorological Center in Bhopal said that the state capital Bhopal recorded around 7,000 lightning strikes in only two days on July 11 and 12.
