Heavy rain wreaks havoc in Uttarakhand, 211 roads including Badrinath highway closed

Dehradun: The weather in Uttarakhand on Tuesday changed again. It rained heavily in Dehradun in the afternoon. At the same time, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers in all the cities. The districts of Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar, in particular, are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. At the same time, it is cloudy across the state since this morning. There is dense cloud as well as fog in Mussoorie.  

As the weather was favoured, other agencies, including Lonivi, managed to open all the state and district routes, including the three national highways, which were closed a day earlier, but 190 roads are still blocked due to the late arrival of rural road numbers. A total of 211 roads were blocked in the state on Monday. According to a bulletin issued by Lonivi, nine state-level roads, nine district main roads, three other district roads, 83 rural roads and 107 PMGSY roads were blocked in the state. 240 JCB machines were pressed into service to open the roads. Due to this, a total of 74 roads were able to be opened. 68 roads were blocked on Monday. 143 roads were closed a day earlier. Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Lonivi R K Sudhanshu said that the closed roads are being constantly reviewed at the governance level. Officers have been instructed to take prompt action to open the closed routes. Due to this, while the holidays of all the officers and employees have been banned, special instructions have been given, if negligence in the work is found, then no one will be left out.

In Rana village adjoining the same Yamunotri area, the debris and water of the road reached the courtyard of people's houses. Seeing the water, people spent the night awake. Kedar Singh Chauhan's residential house was under the debris and stayed out all night along with his family.
