New Delhi: The Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) manufactured for the Indian Army was successfully test-fired on March 27, 2022, from the Integrated Test Range at Balasore in Odisha. The missile smashed the target with full accuracy within a few minutes. The missile has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with the Israeli IAI company.

The Barak missile received by India from Israel is also MRSAM. The surface-to-air missile (SAM) Army weapon system consists of command posts, multi-function radar, mobile launcher systems. It is based on Israel's deadliest missile Barak-8 ( Barak-8). MRSAM weighs about 275 kg. The length is 4.5 meters and the diameter is 0.45 meters.  The missile strikes at a speed of 680 meters per second i.e. 2448 kilometres per hour.

This is a two-stage missile, which releases less smoke after launch. Once launched, MRSAM can hit the target up to 16 km straight into the sky. By the way, its range ranges from half a km to 100 km. That is, the enemy vehicle, aircraft, drone or missile coming in this range is fully capable of destroying it.
