KAMPALA-Uganda:  According to local television, two bombs in the heart of Kampala, Uganda's capital,  killed at least two people and put many cars on fire on Tuesday.

According to NTV Uganda, "scores" of people were injured in two bombs, one near parliament and the other near the central police station. The television channel said that Parliament was being evacuated. The cause of the explosions remained unknown at the time. The Television channel said on Twitter that "first responders included Red Cross members who were using fire extinguishers to put out the fire on Parliamentary Avenue."

As part of an African Union peacekeeping operation in Somalia, Ugandan soldiers are fighting al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab terrorists. In Uganda, Al Shabaab has carried out a number of devastating bombs.

Last month, Islamic State claimed responsibility for the first bombing in Uganda. A waitress was murdered by that device, which was packed with shrapnel.Ugandan police claimed last month that a suicide bomber detonated a device on a bus, killing himself and injuring others.
