Mumbai: Tree cutting has started on Friday after the Bombay High Court quashed all petitions opposing the felling of trees in Aarey Colony, a lush green area of Mumbai. Those opposing the felling have alleged that the administration is cutting down trees. At the same time, in view of the people's protests, the Mumbai Police has imposed Section 144 in the area. With this, the police have taken into custody about 100 protesters.

Giving information, the Mumbai Police has said that in view of the situation, Section 144 of CrPC has been implemented in the area near the metro-rail project site in Aarey forests of Mumbai. Following the Bombay High Court order, protests are being held last night in Aare forests against the felling of trees. Others have said that out of more than 2600 trees that have to be cut, 800 trees have been cut so far.

However, in a short time, the protesters also reached that place and shouted slogans at the metro rail site. The video of cutting down trees on social media has also spread like fire, but officials of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation have not yet confirmed that the cutting of trees for the planned metro car shed has begun.
