Mumbai: About 40 thousand employees of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) have been getting their monthly salary in the form of coins of five and 10 rupees for a few months. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to the employees. This is happening due to some issues related to banking with BEST. Actually, Best's contract with the bank has ended, after which the salary of the best of up to 15 thousand rupees is being given to the employees of Best.

Employees are facing many problems due to a large amount of salary being received in the form of coins. They are having inconvenience in paying EMI and other things. Let us tell you that the undertaking, with the operation of four thousand buses, supplies electricity to the homes of about 10 lakh consumers. The undertaking receives a large number of coins in the form of cash for ticket fares and electricity bills.

At the same time, some of the employees of Best say that earlier they have been receiving some part of salary in the form of coins. One employee told that 'I got cash and coins worth 11 thousand rupees as salary, whereas a month before that, 15 thousand rupees were given as coins. Usually, we get two rupees, five rupee coins, and 10 rupee notes. Along with this, some notes of 50 rupees, 100 rupees, and 500 rupees are given as cash. The remaining amount is deposited directly into our account'.
