Mumbai Court allows release of Aaryan Khan Passport

NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) court here on Wednesday directed the court registry to return the passport of Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, as he was cleared of all charges by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case recently. the NCB gave its no objection to Aryan Khan’s plea on June 30, seeking the return of his passport, cancellation of his bail bond imposed by the Bombay high court last year, and a formal order discharging him from the drugs case.

NCB after an investigation into the complaint filed against 14 out of 20 people,  “Admittedly no complaint was filed against six persons, including the present applicant as no material evidence surfaced during investigation,” the judge said while canceling Aryan Khan’s bail bond and discharging his surety, actor Juhi Chawla.

The NCB filed a reply to the plea, stating that “no complaint was filed against six persons, including the present applicant (Aryan) as no material evidence surfaced during the investigation which could connect the said six persons to the instant case. The applicant is not an accused in case no investigation is pending against him.”

The agency initially claimed that the 6 grams of charas purportedly found with his close friend Arbaaz Merchant was also meant for the consumption of the 24-year-old Khan Based on WhatsApp chats of Aryan Khan, Investigation officer Wankhede and his team claimed that the actor’s son was part of a larger international drugs conspiracy.

He spent seven days in NCB custody and a further 21 days in Arthur Road jail before the Bombay high court granted him bail on October 28.

What was the case about

Khan, 24, was arrested on October 3 last year concerning the seizure of banned drugs on board a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. The narcotics agency busted an alleged drugs party on the Cordelia Cruise ship that was on its way to Goa at mid-sea on October 2. He spent seven days in NCB custody and a further 21 days in Arthur Road jail before the Bombay high court granted him bail on October 28. On May 27, Khan was given a clean chit by a special investigation team (SIT) of the NCB in the drugs case.
