Mumbai: A sudden fire broke out in the Churchill Chamber building near the Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the Diplomat Hotel in Mumbai. Four fire tenders have reached the spot and efforts are on to control the fire. The smoke has spread in the area due to the fire. Some people are feared trapped in the Churchill chamber. The rescue operation is in progress.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the Churchill Chamber Building in Colaba. No casualty has been reported so far in the fire. However, many people are feared to be trapped in the building. Firefighters are trying to evacuate people. They are trying to put out the fire by reaching up to the stairs.

This is not the first incident of fire in a Mumbai building. The fire broke out at Shantivan Building in Mumbai's Jogeshwari area on July 18, after which the fire broke out. However, there was no loss of life or property. Security in city buildings has been questioned since the massive fire broke out at the Kamala Mill complex in Lower Parel on December 29, 2017. About 15 people were killed in that incident and there were allegations of malpractices at various levels.
