Mumbai Local train derails at Kurla railway station, No injuries reported

Mumbai: A Mumbai local train derailed while entering Kurla station on Sunday. The incident took place when a coach of train ‘Kalyan-116’ derailed while entering platform no. 3 at Kurla station at 8:52 pm today. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

According to report, the local train, bound to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus derailed while entering Kurla station. No injuries were reported in the incident so far.  However, 50 local trains were reportedly cancelled after the accident.

According to the news agency ANI, restoration work to resume service was completed and the train has been moved away. The incident occurred when the fifth coach of the train derailed while it was entering the station, Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), told the Indian Express.

Udasi told, The axle and wheel of the coach were damaged in the incident. He said that a few services were affected on the route and were running late after the accident. He added that the rail traffic on the route would be restored soon.

As per news agency PTI, the derailment took place between Vidyavihar and Kurla stations. An official told the news agency that before the derailment, a short circuit had been spotted in a ladies compartment around 7 pm when the train was approaching Vidyavihat on the slow track.
