Mumbai: The order to burn the corpses of those who died due to Corona has been withdrawn by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (Manpa). Earlier, Manpa had said in its order that if a patient dies due to corona, his body will be burnt, irrespective of religion or community. But after political pressure this order has been withdrawn by the Manpa administration.

Now a new order has been issued after its review. It said that if anyone wants to bury the dead body, then he must take all necessary precautions in the presence of the police. If he does not do so, action will be taken against that person. In fact, in the previous order, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation had also said that if anyone wishes to bury the dead body, he can do so outside the jurisdiction of Mumbai. As soon as Manpa issued the first order, pressure was put on the part of political parties to withdraw it immediately.

However, after the new order was issued, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik wrote in a tweet that I have spoken to the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi regarding the circular. He said that the old circular has been repealed. However, on the previous order, Manpa had argued that any traditions which involve touching dead bodies, should be avoided.
