Mumbai: The Manor Police and Local Crime Branch of Palghar district of Maharashtra have deflated the nefarious plans of those trying to spread terror in Mumbai. Police and local crime branch of Palghar district have also arrested 2 accused in this case. Police have recovered three AK-47 rifles, 63 live cartridges, 4 indigenous pistols and a large number of drugs (including heroin, morphine and brown sugar) from the possession of these accused.

In Maharashtra, voting is to be held for the assembly elections on 21st of this month. In such a situation, there has been a stir due to the seizure of arms and drugs from Palghar district adjacent to Mumbai. It is feared that drugs and weapons were being conspired to breach Mumbai's law and order by reaching Mumbai in a big scale before the election.

Apart from this, on Monday night police from Amritsar district of Punjab have arrested many smugglers with huge amount of weapons and drugs. Police recovered AK 47 rifles, 5 pistols and 4 kg of heroin from their possession. Sources are quoting that an encounter between STF and smugglers also took place at Gurdaspurian Dhaba in Jandiala town of Amritsar. Search operation is still going on in the area.
