Mumbai Police arrested two people, seize 1,800 kg of ganja

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has busted a gang whose members used to supply 4 tonnes of cannabis in Mumbai every month. Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Crime Branch, said that the Ghatkopar Unit of Anti Narcotics Cell had received secret information in this regard. The Ghatkopar unit followed a truck by laying a trap on the Mumbai Thane highway near Vikhroli. Investigation revealed that the coconut inside was full and the accused had hidden 1800 kg of cannabis in the cavity under the coconut.

The market price of the recovered hemp is estimated to be around three and a half crores. In the case of illegal business, the police have so far arrested two people named Akash Yadav and Dinesh Saroj. Both of them were present with ganja in the truck. There are three cases registered against Yadav in various police stations. Bharambe said that during preliminary investigation it was found that these accused supplied 6 tons of hemp in Maharashtra per month and 4 tons of hemp was sold only in Mumbai.

The police is now looking for a person named Sandeep Satpute and Laxmi Pradhan in this case. Satpute owns a Godown in the Bhiwandi area and lives in the Louis Wadi area of Thane.
