MUMBAI: Amidst intense downpours, educational institutions in Mumbai will remain closed today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert for nine districts in Himachal Pradesh, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall.

The head of IMD (Shimla), Surender Paul, stated that the next three days will witness persistent rain in the Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, and Una districts.

In response to the relentless heavy rains, the municipal corporation has directed the closure of all schools and colleges in Mumbai and its suburbs. This applies to both government and private institutions at primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels.

Tragedy struck Karnataka as torrential rains and floods claimed the lives of 38 people. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while reviewing the situation, instructed officials to undertake immediate relief and rescue operations. Precautionary measures to safeguard lives were also emphasized.

Furthermore, Delhi faced a crisis as the Yamuna river breached the danger mark of 205.33 meters due to heavy rains in certain areas of the capital and upper catchment regions.

The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until July 27th. These regions need to brace themselves for possible disruptions caused by the inclement weather.
