PUDUCHERRY: A momentous occasion awaits as President Droupadi Murmu is set to honor the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo on August 8.

The President's itinerary includes a visit to the Auroville International Township on the same day, where she will inaugurate the plenary session of a captivating day-long conference, themed "Aspiring for the Supermind in the City of Consciousness."

As per the official statement from the Auroville International Foundation, other esteemed dignitaries like Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Puducherry's Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajanwill will also grace the event with their presence.

Adding to the festivities, the Auroville Foundation has organized essay competitions for children and youth, along with the grand G20 and Y29 International Spiritual Summit, both integral parts of the birth anniversary celebrations.

Auroville holds a special place in its heart for the month of August, given its significance in commemorating the birth of Sri Aurobindo. Beyond the birth anniversary celebrations, a series of enriching talks on the Upanishads by Sri M will take place from August 13-15, along with a Unity Walk and sapling plantation event. Moreover, the Auroville Literature Festival, scheduled from August 25-27, promises to feature some of the most exceptional Indian and international writers, showcasing Sri Aurobindo's immense contribution as a writer, evolutionary philosopher, path-breaking visionary, epic poet, playwright, and social and political thinker," as beautifully expressed by Jayanti. The festivities will culminate in a mesmerizing bonfire at the amphitheater on August 15, adding to the splendor of the celebrations.
