Muslims are not afraid to raise patriotic slogans but they cannot say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’: Darul Uloom Deoband

New Delhi: According to Deoband, in Islam only Allah can be worshipped and therefore after Islamic seminary, Darul Uloom Deoband, issued a diktat asking students to venture out on Republic Day at their own risk, a cleric from the organisation asked its followers not to sing the Vande Mataram or Bharat ki Jai. The reason for the same, The recent statement comes just two days the religious studies' body asked its followers not the venture out on Republic Day (January 26) and if they do, not to get into an argument with the Police –and try to resolve the argument in a peaceful manner.

While A Darul Uloom cleric clarified that Muslims are not afraid to raise patriotic slogans but they cannot say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ saying, merely changing the words of a statement do not change the meaning behind it. Earlier, a circular issued by the management of the hostel department of the seminary warned the lodgers: “Only in the cases of emergency, one must travel. And in such circumstances, it is better not to engage in any dispute or argument of any kind”.

As per a report, The organisation clarified that they do not want the students to get into any trouble as they venture out on the National Holiday. The advisory comes in the backdrop of a report of Muslim students getting beaten up on trains.

Earlier in November 2017, Three Muslim youths were beaten up by over a dozen men on a passenger train in Baghpat and five Islamic scholars were beaten up on board the Delhi-Saharanpur train in May 2015.
