Bengaluru: A fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on the owner of a salon for cutting a Dalit's hair in Mysore, Karnataka. Mallikarjun Shetty operates a saloon in Hallare village in Mysore district, his family has been facing social boycott for the past several days. His fault is that he cut the hair of Dalits and backward classes.

The upper-caste people of Hallare village have given this decree and ordered Mallikarjun to pay a fine of Rs 50,000. Mallikarjun has told the media about this matter that a few days ago, upper-caste people had come to his shop and threatened Mallikarjun that he should not cut the hair of Dalits.

On giving information, the owner of the salon, Mallikarjun, said that when I talked about complaining about this, I was threatened, beaten up and took away five thousand rupees. Regarding this matter, Nanjangud Rural Police says that Mallikarjun himself does not want to register the case. Therefore, the matter has been resolved by talking to both parties.
