Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three people on Sunday in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged gang rape and murder of a young girl in West Bengal's Nadiya district.

A 14-year-old girl died earlier this month after being allegedly gang-raped in Hanskhali, Nadia district. In this case, the victim's family accused the son of a Trinamool Congress panchayat leader.

In accordance with Calcutta High Court directives, the CBI registered the case on April 13 and took over the investigation of a case previously filed at Police Station Hanskhali in Nadiya district on charges of gang rape and murder of a young girl.

The role of the accused has allegedly been found throughout the course of the investigation, and they have been arrested. The arrested suspect will appear in front of the Competent Court.

On April 17, the federal agency apprehended a wanted suspect in the purported Nadiya rape case.
