Akkineni Naga Chaitanya is in talks to star in the Telugu version of 'Maanadu,' which was released in Tamil. Despite a lack of official confirmation, Tollywood insiders are confident that Naga Chaitanya will play the lead in the remake of Simbu's latest hit film.

'Maanadu,' directed by Venkat Prabhu, stars Silambarasan ('Simbu') and S.J. Suriya in the lead roles. Suresh Productions, a renowned Tollywood production house, has purchased the film's rights.

Because Naga Chaitanya's maternal uncle, Daggubati Suresh, owns Suresh Productions, the production team is claimed to have cast a 'Bangarraju' actor in the starring role. According to sources close to the production house, Chaitanya has given the proposal his approval after hearing the storyline  It's unclear whether Venkat Prabhu would also direct the Telugu remake of 'Maanadu.' A formal statement is likely to be released shortly.

Naga Chaitanya, who is riding high on the success of his previous films 'Love Story' and 'Bangarraju,' is nearly through filming for Vikram Kumar's 'Thank You,' in which Rashi Khanna will play his love interest.
