Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar is often seen in the headlines for her statements and now this time too she is in the news for her new statement. In fact, Swara says that she is not an activist but an artist. Swara, who arrived in Kochi in Kerala to deliver a lecture at the 6th Dr. T.K. Ramachandran Memorial, spoke openly about the situation in the film industry during the Mauduja era, including Gujarat muddy. Talking about the silent agreement between the Mumbai film industry and the RSS, she said, "Film is an art, a medium of entertainment for the people, but in the present era, it is being used on a large scale with the help of sharing among citizens and the people of Nagpur are using it as a tool to spread divisive ideas through films. "

Her further reference was to the RSS office in Nagpur. "Those actors or those who are not in touch with their views and try to discharge their civic duties are targeted, harassed. Explaining the ongoing debate between being an actress and an activist, Swara said, "I have never tried to project myself as an activist nor do I want to be recognised as an activist. However, I speak openly on various issues of society so I am tagged as an activist. I am an actress but I am also a citizen of the country.''

She further explained the relationship between film and society in the present time, saying, "Films are like the shadow of society, they do not understand the power of this art. It is a transformative power and one does build power. Free art is a big threat to any ruling state and unfortunately, the state is feeling the power of film art as a threat to itself.'' Apart from this, she said, "The kind of films that are being made in Hindi cinema today, a lot of space is being given to showcase Hindutva. For example, look at the historical films that are being made in Bollywood. These films are reflecting Nagpur's divisive agenda. So it is important that more and more artists should join together or else the state machinery will force us to implement our agenda.''

Concluding her speech here, Swara Bhaskar made a direct attack on the Modi government, saying, "In today's time, those who criticise the Gujarat riots are directly described as anti-nationals and terrorists. I have targeted you only because of my talk, which I myself experience directly.''
