Chennai: Nalini, convicted of killing former PM Rajiv Gandhi, has attempted suicide in jail. She had a dispute with another prisoner in jail last night. After which Nalini tried to take a step like suicide. She is currently undergoing treatment in a jail hospital.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991, during the election campaign in Tamil Nadu by suicide bombing. After that Nalini was arrested under police investigation. The court sentenced her for life imprisonment. Since then Nalini has been imprisoned in Vellore Jail in Tamil Nadu. Where she allegedly tried to commit suicide last night. Nalini's lawyer Puglendhi has given information in this regard. In a phone conversation with media, Pugalendhi said that Nalini has been imprisoned for the past 29 years. But this happened to her for the first time, when she tried to commit suicide.

Nalini's lawyer has told that there was a dispute between Nalini and a prisoner in the jail over something. That prisoner complained about this to the jailor. After which Nalini attempted to commit suicide. Pugalendhi said that Nalini is a fighter and she cannot do such action. The report of the primary investigation that came out in this regard is insufficient. He said that he had doubts about the reasons being given by the jail officials about the suicide attempt. Lawyer Puglendhi said that this demand of Nalini would be raised in the court.
