NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of P V Narasimha Rao, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to to him and expressed India's gratitude for his significant contributions to the country's development.
Narasimha Rao, a veteran Congress leader who became prime minister in 1991 and completed a full five-year tenure, is credited with liberalising the Indian economy and enacting transformational changes. In a tweet, Modi paid tribute to his predecessor, Shri PV Narasimha Rao Ji, on the occasion of his birthday.
India is appreciative of his significant contribution to national advancement. The prime minister added that he left a lasting impression as a great scholar and intellectual.

On the occasion of the this anniversary, several leaders paid respect to the late Indian former prime minister on Tuesday. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called the former PM a ‘multifaceted personality’. “Tributes to the former Prime Minister of India, Shri PV Narasimha Rao ji, who was a multifaceted personality, on his birth anniversary,” Kejriwal wrote on Twitter.
