Narayana Murthy Warns Against Deepfake Videos Endorsing Trading Apps, and More

Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, recently warned the public about fake videos circulating online where he appears to endorse trading apps. Murthy clarified on a social media platform (formerly Twitter) that certain websites claim he invested in automated trading apps, such as BTC AI Evex, British Bitcoin Profit, Bit Lyte Sync, Immediate Momentum, Capitalix Ventures, among others. These false claims are being spread on fake news sites that impersonate well-known newspapers and even create fabricated interviews using deepfake images and videos.

In a series of tweets, Murthy firmly denied any association with these apps or websites, urging people to be cautious and not fall for misleading information online. He emphasized, "I categorically deny any endorsement, relation or association with these applications or websites. I caution the public to not fall prey to the content of these malicious sites and to the products or services they are trying to sell to you. Please report any such instances to the concerned regulatory authorities."

This issue of deepfake videos has affected other notable figures as well. Industrialist Ratan Tata recently spoke out against a deepfake video circulating on Instagram, where he was falsely shown giving investment advice. The deceptive video, shared by an Instagram user named Sona Agarwal, misrepresented Tata's words and offered viewers a 'risk-free' investment opportunity.

Expressing concerns over deepfakes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the potential dangers of artificial intelligence during an event at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. He emphasized that deepfakes could be used to spread false information and could potentially aid malicious intentions, especially if AI falls into the wrong hands. Modi stressed the need for global attention to this issue, citing the risks posed by AI tools in the hands of terrorist groups.
