Singapore's newly sworn-in Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, has sent a congratulatory message to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his reappointment for a record-equalling third term. In his letter, Wong praised Modi for steering India through remarkable transformations and improving the lives of millions of people over the past decade.
Wong expressed confidence in Modi's leadership, foreseeing continued growth and prosperity for India under his governance. Highlighting the warm and multifaceted relationship between Singapore and India, Wong emphasized their strategic partnership as they approach the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
"We look forward to deepening our collaboration in new areas such as digitalisation, skilling, and healthcare," Wong said, as quoted by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
Wishing Modi good health and success, Wong conveyed his eagerness to meet him again and work together to further strengthen bilateral ties. Wong, 51, took office as Singapore's prime minister last month, succeeding Lee Hsien Loong, who had a close relationship with Prime Minister Modi.
