Lucknow: Congress leader Nasimuddin Siddiqui in a virtual meeting with ulemas on Wednesday (June 2, 2021) claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will come back to 2 seats if all Muslims from Uttar Pradesh come together with congress. Siddiqui urged Muslims to join the Congress and said the BJP is reduced to two seats whenever Muslims have joined the Congress.

According to Nasimuddin, the Ulema have played an important role in the country's freedom struggle. Once again the Ulema will have to come forward to save secularism. Muslims have to support the Congress to ensure that our future generations are safe. Attacking the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Siddiqui said it is not for these parties to counter the attacks on the Constitution by the BJP government. Interestingly, Nasimuddin Siddiqui himself was in BSP before joining the Congress and was also a minister during Mayawati's government.

In Uttar Pradesh, assembly elections are due in 2022, which is why the Congress is trying its best to woo muslims. Congress spokesperson Omkar Singh says the party has departments in every section and we are talking to everyone and trying to solve their problems.
