The coronavirus test positive of a 23-year-old woman has arrived in the Indian state of Manipur, she traveled from the UK. Till now the northeast part of the country was untouched by this infectious disease. Till 8.45 am on March 24, 2020, the total infection count in the country has increased to 492 patients infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19) in India.

The victimized woman admitted for treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) of Imphal has recently returned from Britain. The victim is a resident of Thangmeiband in Imphal West. On Monday, the Manipur government announced a statewide lock-down, which will continue till March 31. This announcement has been made as a precaution to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection.

Only the most important services are exempted in the lock down. The government has set up isolation wards in two hospitals. These hospitals are - Regional and JNIMS. The state government has urged people to follow the home quarantine order and not hide any of its symptoms.
