The havoc of coronavirus in the Indian state of Karnataka was not over yet that now cases of KFD (Kasanoor forest disease) have been reported in Shivamogga district of the state. Officials said that out of 139 cases in the state, 130 people have been cured. It is also known as monkey fever.

In his statement, Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner KB Shivakumar said that he was able to prevent diseases in the district as compared to last year. This year we were able to successfully incorporate Kayasanur Forest Disease (KFD) in Shivamogga district. We had only 139 cases, out of which we fixed more than 130 cases. There was also a death here due to KFD, awaiting trial for the remaining two deaths. Last year, an outbreak of the disease killed 23 people. More than 400 people were also infected.

KFD is caused by Kasanur Forest Disease Virus (KFDV), which is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae. Infection to humans can occur after a tick bite or contact with an infected animal, most importantly from a sick or recently dead monkey.
