The arrest of former Union Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram was postponed till August 9. He has been relieved by the court. The period of exemption from both arrests was ending on August 1. The court will now hear the stay on the arrest of Chidambaram and his son on August 9. The court will also take cognisance of the cbi and ED charge sheets on August 19. Chidambaram told the court that there was no basis for rejecting his anticipatory bail plea.

According to media reports, Karti will now have to vacate the house located in the Jor Haat area within 10 days. The 115-A property, located in Block 172 of Jor Bagh, was attached by ED on October 10 last year. This was confirmed in a letter on March 29, 2019. In a notice sent to Karti Chidambaram by ED, he has been asked to handover the entire property within 10 days. The cases are being investigated by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Both the investigating agencies had asked the court to postpone the hearing on P Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea. The ED had sought a date from the court for the last week of August for hearing in the case.

For your information, after hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Chidambaram and his son in the case lodged by CBI and ED, Special Judge OP Saini provided relief to both as the agencies also sought more time to investigate the case. he. Karti Chidambaram is facing cases related to Aircel-Maxis and money laundering.
