A case was finally registered against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nishikant More under the stringent provisions of the POCSO Act and the IPC. The police officer is accused of sexually assaulting his friend's daughter on her birthday party.

A case has been registered at Taloja police station in Navi Mumbai regarding this matter. The Navi Mumbai Police started the process of registering an FIR on Wednesday evening itself. A team of women police officers along with the typist visited the victim's house and recorded her statement in Hindi language. The victim was given a list of 12 questions written in Hindi and the girl answered all the questions in the presence of the officers and her family members. The entire statement was recorded late Wednesday and Thursday. In the statement recorded by the victim, she has given information about what happened to her on the occasion of her birthday on June 5. The accused police officers were drunk on that day. In this case, the family complained to the DGP about the complaint not being filed. The DGP summoned the report and ordered the FIR to be filed.
