National Education Policy 2020 will create the right educational ecosystem: Venkaiah Naidu

Bengaluru: Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will create right educational ecosystem due to the students getting access to new teaching and learning strategies across all segments.

Vice-President said a number of new IITs, IIMs, central universities and skill development centres have come up across the country in the last few years to achieve this objective. He was speaking at the laying the Foundation Stone of the "Innovation & Development Centre" of JNCAR. The centre targets to showcase its scientific breakthroughs.  "The National Education Policy 2020 will ensure that students have access to new teaching and learning strategies across all segments which will create the right educational ecosystem and enrich their knowledge base as also honing their skill sets," he said.  He also said the need of the hour is to inculcate scientific temper from a young age and promote world-class scientific research that addresses societal problems.

The VP asked scientists and researchers to undertake research in new promising areas of science like synthetic biology, computational biology, high-performance engineering materials and artificial intelligence (AI). He also called for scientists to excel and innovate for improving the lives of the people. "The scientists should come up with out-of-the-box solutions to address various challenges faced by mankind from climate change to agriculture to health and medicine, among others," he added. He also lauded JNCASR for generating over 300 patents and promoted the establishment of a few startups based on indigenous inventions.
