New Delhi: Indian Railways is going to start work between Delhi and Howrah and Delhi and Mumbai to reduce travel time to only 12 hours. For this, the speed of trains will be increased to a maximum of 160 kmph. Cabinet approval for this purpose was obtained two years ago and now groundwork is being started. Tell us that Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah are among the busiest routes of the railways.
The Delhi-Mumbai rail route is 1380 km long, while the distance between Delhi and Howrah is 1490 km. The most important aspect of making a speed of 160 kmph a reality is fencing on the entire route. Indian Railways will fence both sides of the track for the entire stretch of Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah routes. This is being done to ensure that the train does not cross a track while running at a speed of 160 kmph.
Railways have identified the Gaya-Dehri-Gomoh route on the Delhi-Howrah railway line to run semi-high speed trains. Current tracks for fast trains will be better replaced by heavy tracks. Level crossings will also be removed to make the route accident-free. Electric cables above the train will also be replaced during the redevelopment of tracks.
