The Central Government of India is preparing to make changes in the Information Technology Act (IT Act). This law has been around for more than two decades. There are plans to make this old law compatible with modern technology through reforms. Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the department is considering reforms in the IT Act. There have been major changes in the field of technology during the last few times. In such a situation, new challenges have arisen in front of us, to deal with which reforms in the law are necessary.

In his statement about this law, Prasad has said that the decisions of the Supreme Court regarding privacy and data security will be kept in mind during the reform of the IT Act. A team will be appointed for advice from the business world, whose suggestions will be given place in legal reform. During this, the Union Minister, referring to the increasing use of digital platforms, said that now the digitization of most services is happening. In such a situation, the number of emergents has increased a lot.

According to Union Minister Prasad, due to increasing digital payments, the possibility of fraud and corruption has also increased. In such a situation, reforms have become necessary to meet the challenges. The current IT law does not provide adequate measures to deal with cyber cases. Prasad said that special provisions will be made in the law to deal with cyber cases.
