The United Nations' World Migration Report 2020 is very special. This report has come out about migrants and refugees. This report has been prepared by the International Organization on Migration, the UN's only subsidiary. According to this report, there are about 27 crore expatriates in the world, of which the maximum are Indians. India alone has 1.75 crore migrants living in different countries of the world. After this, the second is the citizens of Mexico, whose number is about 12 million. Third comes the Chinese citizens living in different countries, whose number is less than 11 million. According to the report, 140 million migrants live in Europe and North America.

According to the report of the UN about this matter, about 3.5 percent of the entire population of the world are living in different countries as migrants. Of this population, 52 percent are male and 48 percent are female. Around 74 percent of the expatriates are aged 20–64 years, who are a working age. Its simple meaning is that most people leave their homeland in search of work and take the path to another country. But it is also recorded in this report that only 3.5 percent of the diaspora is a very small part of the world's population. According to the report, 96.5 per cent of the people in the whole world spend their entire lives in the same country where they are born. The report said that in the coming 30 years, the number of migrants will decrease and it will be around 23 crore.

For your information, let us tell you that most of the expatriates belong to the developing countries, which tend to be high-income countries. America is preferred by most of them. Apart from this, France, Russia, UAE, Saudi Arabia also become the choice of the people. As far as the decrease in the number of migrants is concerned in the coming time, it can be seen in two ways. The first is strict rules for migrants made in developed countries, the second is the rapid development of developing countries.
